Building Girl Societies: Restoring Matrilineal Traditions and Power

The Indigenous Justice Circle (IJC) invites proposals for innovative projects aiming to establish Girl Societies that support Native American girls and 2SLGBTQ+ youth. Our mission is to address the systemic inequities and unique challenges at the intersection of race, gender, age, culture, and socio-economic status.

IJC will support planning, implementation and capacity building to local organizations and/or groups of local women to acquire planning and implementation skills to initiate and run IMAGEN Girl Societies in Native communities. This opportunity is is aimed at Native-controlled organizations and/or groups of individuals (with a fiscal sponsor) within native communities or urban Indian neighborhoods.

IJC's work is rooted in deep partnerships across Indigenous communities and an unwavering commitment to gender justice for Indigenous girls and 2SLGBTQ+ youth. Holding great promise and creativity, yet facing alarming disparities in mental health, safety, and socioeconomic stability, these groups require targeted, culturally appropriate programming and support.
