IJC 2022 Highlights

As we settle in for the holiday season we wanted to take a moment to share with you the IMAGEN/IJC accomplishments this year and thank you for being part of our journey. Happy New Year from our team!

Some highlights:

  • We kicked off the year by publishing our latest IMAGEN brief “A Framework for Restoring Indigenous Girl Societies” which you can read here.

  • We created an art book with the winning pieces of our Art Calls for artwork from Native Women and Girls.

  • In 2022 we worked hard to share our work with new audiences. On January 12, we introduced our organization to the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Association of University Women. Later this year, we presented to the leadership of the New York City Government Sexual and Reproductive Health Unit in April.

  • We spoke at several conferences: the HHS ACF Indigenous Programs Conference with Aimee Pond, Kala Roberts, and Kelsey Tangney; the Life Paths ResilienceCon on April 4; the Tribal Public Health Conference with our partners at the OKC Indian Clinic; and lastly at the Harvard GlobalWE Connect Women’s Empowerment Expo.

Working with our partners:

Like every year, we have been fortunate to continue our work alongside our IMAGEN Circle members. Through bimonthly check-ins and collaborations, in 2022 we learned even more from each other. In March we hosted a webinar highlighting the work of some of our partners. Now we are celebrating the work we accomplished together as three of our multi-year grants have concluded and we initiate two more with new partners.

We look forward to our partnerships next year and our upcoming series highlighting the work of our IMAGEN Circle members.

The Indigenous Justice Circle & Our Path to Sovereignty

From August 1, IMAGEN’s new home has been with the newly formed organization, Indigenous Justice Circle. This Native-woman-led organization focuses not only on Indigenous Girls’ empowerment but also Environmental and Racial Justice. To wrap up the year we also hosted a webinar on December 8 introducing the IJC and giving a preview of upcoming IMAGEN tools.
